Aslanis Laskaris winery

Aslanis wines is a traditional, yet modern and small family winery.
The privately owned vineyards are located in a wonderful piece of land of 2.2 hectares surface, at the area of “Nea Michaniona” in Thessaloniki. Their location was proved delightful, since it was held from the locals since the old days that the terroir was one of the finest in the entire country. Being next to Thermaikos Gulf and nearby a small rill on a sunny hillside, during the night there is always a fresh breeze contributing to the rich flavor of the grapes.

Aslanis winery benefits from the fact that practically all of the vineyard land he owns is contiguous as opposed to many own pieces of land located in the same area. This fact allows a closer quality control of his vineyards and less variation for the ensuing vintages.

Aslanis considers his wine a work of art and he is completely dedicated to the art of making fine wines, maturing them in the best French oak barrels for at least one year period, offering the very best in fruit, structure and flavor.
He was delighted when his daughters decided to follow him into the family wine business by enrolling in the enology school and business management school.
His winemaking skills and his family, is a harmonious blending of the past and the future, given the same passion and attention. His lifestyle revolves around hospitality, whether he’s creating an inviting seating arrangement or barbeque, gathering friends to his home for an evening of wining and dining, tasting and rating the wines.

The modern days, Aslanis makes a small number of wines. His winery produces between 8.000 and 10.000 bottles annually, which are distributed throughout Greece and Germany. The production is growing slowly during the years. His dream is to operate a tasting facility in the winery that will be run by the family where he will create a bed and breakfast nearby that offers a really unique insight into a wine tourism experience.

Considering the very limited production of Aslanis Family Winery’s initial releases, the primary target for sales is hotels, restaurants and wine shops. In fact, the 2007 Merlot and Cabernet were immediately embraced by German restaurants and luxury hotels.
His vision is that Aslanis Family Winery’s reputation as a producer of great wines will grow with each person who tastes the wine. His goal is to continue producing small lots of the wines that he most likes to drink, increasing production slightly as the wines gain a following. The focus will remain on international varietal wines, Merlot and Cabernet with the introduction of a unique Syrah which will be bottled by the end of 2011.
For the family, the goals are modest. They want to produce a “limited edition” wine that they are proud to serve to family and friends, and they want to have fun in the process.
It is clear, that they have succeeded on both fronts.

They worked hard to create the style of wine they are very passionate about:  elegant and balanced with the fruit and terroir showing the way. Perfect balance in the cellar to what Mother Nature has gifted to the vinery...
